About Us

The essence of our brand, where passion for nature meets the tradition of beekeeping.

Tradition always current

The management of the beehives, working in sync with the dynamics of the climate and natural biodiversity, allows us to collect honeys with flavours and perfumes of rosemary, soagem, Persian clover, poejos, alecrins and mist sap from the Alentejo cork oak forest.

For four generations, the Pirata family in the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo has been taking part in this ancient tradition, which is always renewed with new knowledge and know-how from the field.

Sustainability

Our processes respect the natural functioning of the hive, where techniques such as artificial insemination and clipping the queen bee's wings do not exist. It is also through our ethical code that we obtain a honey that is always pure with the lowest level of processing, thus preserving its organoleptic and nutritional quality.

Paulo Pirata

Beekeeper

Over the years, Paulo has improved his honey production techniques, always striving for excellence in quality and flavour. His dedication has resulted in the creation of Mel Pirata, a brand recognised for the purity and irresistible aroma of its products.

In addition to his work as a beekeeper, Paulo is also an advocate for the environment and the preservation of bees. He is dedicated to educating the community about the importance of bees in pollination and the balance of ecosystems.
